FWICE, the Federation of Western India Sign Employees has put a formal ban on Pakistani technicians and artists to display their skills and pursue a career in Bollywood industry. The ban was placed by the film industry’s worker union this Thursday in Mumbai. It came from unanimous votes and puts a ban on Pakistani artists from being a part of films as well as TV serials produced by Indian directors.
Here is the press release that made its way to social media.
As for the reason for the ban, it is being cited as ‘war-like situation unleashed by Pakistan’ which has caused many soldiers and common men to lose their lives. According to the press issued by FWICE, it says ‘’we stand by our security forces and their families in this hour of crisis and believes in Nation comes first’’. The notice has been forwarded to all the affiliates, producers and associations and also has the signatures of President Shri. Birendra Nath Tiwari and General Secretary Shri, Ashok Dubey.
Many artists including the iconic Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Zafar, Sajal Aly, Mahira Khan, Mawra Hocane, Fawad Khan, Imran Abbas and many others artists that have previously graced the Indian screen with their matchless talent and have been able to garner a large viewership and following. Indians mostly, however, are supporting a ban, saying that country comes first for sure.
